Acting on direction from above and originating from a city council member, I need to draft language to allow artificial turf in residential areas. So in your worst case scenario, what would you prefer to see in an ordinance? I have the following:

1. eight-year “no- fade” warranty;
2. limit coverage to a maximum of 25 percent
3. minimum blade length of 1.5 inches, weight at least 45 oz. per square yard, and permeable at 25 inches per hour
4. professionally installed and following manufacturer’s instructions
5. three-foot diameter around any trees;
6. rubber or inorganic infill is prohibited while organic infill is permitted; and
7. the term ‘artificial turf’ shall not be construed to include artificial trees, shrubs, or bushes

Gotta say 3 is my favorite. I'm good with artificial turf if it's the good stuff and not just green carpet. Look at Peoria, AZ for some good xeriscape ideas. Maybe they have a better definition of turf for you.
