Well another budget season is upon us. Last year I made comment about a few here being laid off. Since then they have made us tighten our belts twice already and they are in hearings about the 2010 budget.

It appears that our education and educational travel is getting slashed now. For those of you that need continuing education to maintain your certifications - How are you going to handle that?

Are there any suggestion that you would have about educational opportunities?

Are you seening this happen in your locality?

Will we be doing more web based education?

I don't know any planning office that isn't facing cutbacks in staff and in training. For next year we're cutting APA memberships to all but AICP's, and the travel budget is pretty much nonexistent. We managed this year by purchasing some CD's from APA (about $100 each) and then passing them from planner to planner to get the credit. There is also a sticky thread in this forum category that has info on free and low-cost AICP credit alternatives. There are some out there, since all AICP's are in the same boat. I've talked to some planners that are going to let the AICP lapse, but I have my credits through 2010. After that, we'll see (if I'm still employed).
