Curve Radius Requirements

I hope this is the proper forum for this question. We are considering revising the minimum standards of some of our road regulations including Centerline Curve Radii on private subdivision roads. Currently all types of private roads must have a minimum curve radius of 90 feet. Is there anyone out there with a Centerline Curve Radius standard that is less than 90 feet, or has anyone heard of such a standard? If so, I would love to find out more.

You might try talking to your traffic department. We have some corner cut and radius requirements but the traffic engineer keeps saying that their not enough so they probably wouldn't do you much good.

90' is already lower than the AASHTO Green Book sandards. Alley = 100' Cul-de-sac = 100' Residential/Local Road = 100' Minor Collector = 150' Major Collector = 150'
