Every time I see someone else's list I have to add more to mine...
This might be worthy of a poll. Number of CD's
less then 100, 100-199, 200-500, over 500.
For CD's I have about 250, vinyl about 1500.
Favourite Bands 9in no particular oreder, will depend on mood)
Ramones - before Dee Dee left, Road to Ruin or Subteraen Jungle as favourite album
Lou Reed - New York or Magic and Loss as favourite album
Velvet Underground - white heat white light - The Gift, the way the 2 mono tracks are mixed to stereo is great. John Cale's voice and the story draw me in each time I listen to it followed by the frenetic Sister Ray.
The Who - Quadraphenia - see my movie pick.
The Stone Roses - fun dance music, memories from HS and University.
The Pogues - album with Waltzing Matilda on it is great. Must have Shane Gowan as lead singer.
Hoyt Axton. Rusty Old Halo -his mother wrote heart break hotel, he wrote jeramiah was a bullfrog. a great story teller.
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (or is it Plastic Surgey Disaster?) - Jello and the boys - Holiday in Cambodia and Viva Las Vegas are great.
John Prine - Sweet Revenge - especially onamotapia (sp?), clever plays on words and expressing feelings.
Anthology of American Folk Music - Especially Volume with John the Revalator. the mystery women just makes your heart bleed for her pain and love.
Wolf Krakowski -Transmigration- The album was dedicated to my father, great tales told in Yiddish.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Tie between BSSM and Mother's Milk - funk and punk fusion at its best.
Frank Zappa - Over Nite Sensation / Sheik Yur Booti - Dinah Moe Hum - Moving to Montanta / Broken Hearts are for ..., great songs, makes me laugh my ass off and think at the same time
I too could go on about music I love and the CD's/Vinyl I own. One thing that is missing and will never enter my collection is Boy Bands / pop drivel.
