I thought I was music obsessed, but I only have 500 cds. :)

No particular order, and I have pretty eclectic but wierd tastes but my top bands would prbably be:

Godspeed You Black Emperor (Montreal Trancy Neoclassical)

My Dying Bride (Classic Doom Metal)

Nevermore (American Speed Metal)

Dark Tranquillity (THE definitive Swedish blackened thrash)

Black Tape for a Blue Girl (Ambient/Romantic Neoclassical)

Black Sabbath (early)

Legendary Pink Dots (ultra-wierd, ultra cool)

Marillion (Outdid Genesis in prog rock)

In the Woods/Green Carnation (The ultimate progressive)

Current 93 (British neoclassical/folky/doomy acoustic)

Sol Invictus (see above)

Every time I see someone else's list I have to add more to mine...

This might be worthy of a poll. Number of CD's

less then 100, 100-199, 200-500, over 500.

For CD's I have about 250, vinyl about 1500.

Favourite Bands 9in no particular oreder, will depend on mood)

Ramones - before Dee Dee left, Road to Ruin or Subteraen Jungle as favourite album

Lou Reed - New York or Magic and Loss as favourite album

Velvet Underground - white heat white light - The Gift, the way the 2 mono tracks are mixed to stereo is great. John Cale's voice and the story draw me in each time I listen to it followed by the frenetic Sister Ray.

The Who - Quadraphenia - see my movie pick.

The Stone Roses - fun dance music, memories from HS and University.

The Pogues - album with Waltzing Matilda on it is great. Must have Shane Gowan as lead singer.

Hoyt Axton. Rusty Old Halo -his mother wrote heart break hotel, he wrote jeramiah was a bullfrog. a great story teller.

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (or is it Plastic Surgey Disaster?) - Jello and the boys - Holiday in Cambodia and Viva Las Vegas are great.

John Prine - Sweet Revenge - especially onamotapia (sp?), clever plays on words and expressing feelings.

Anthology of American Folk Music - Especially Volume with John the Revalator. the mystery women just makes your heart bleed for her pain and love.

Wolf Krakowski -Transmigration- The album was dedicated to my father, great tales told in Yiddish.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Tie between BSSM and Mother's Milk - funk and punk fusion at its best.

Frank Zappa - Over Nite Sensation / Sheik Yur Booti - Dinah Moe Hum - Moving to Montanta / Broken Hearts are for ..., great songs, makes me laugh my ass off and think at the same time

I too could go on about music I love and the CD's/Vinyl I own. One thing that is missing and will never enter my collection is Boy Bands / pop drivel.

Why, thank you kindly, ma'am. :D (Sorry, I've been watching Due South recently.)

It's also a very low maintenance website, seeing as there are no fancy graphics and stuff. See what a high IQ and an aversion to work can acheive if you set your mind to it? Heh heh. Truthfully, I'm too lazy to have it any more complicated or to allow it to take up more time, so it's constantly a work in progress.

My husband's favorite game to play at Indigo Girls and Lilith Fest is "Spot the lesbians". again, Not that there's anything wrong with that (to be here by references as NTTAWWT). Like El Guapo, rob has a soft spot in his heart for girly folky lilithy rock, and was the one that spotted the tickets on sale.
