I'm looking for background material that could be used to support a gas station separation requirement (ordinance). I've found many codes that require a distance separation from residential zoned areas, residential uses and other gas stations, but none of these codes appear to have a study backing them up.... :-c

Our code did not have a formal study backing it but required 1500 feet of separation, with public saftey rationale that they are high turnover establishments with significant turning motions near intersections, and the purpose was to minimize traffic congestion and improve safety.
