Gilmore was a Gov of NC a few years before 1892
there were lots of brick structures

I'm with PlannerGirl... I think it's Durham/Raleigh. There's a Pratt School of Engineering I think at Duke, which would lend itself to the Pratt Street name. So that's my guess.
