Nope, Nairobi is land-locked.

Hint: it's the biggest city in the country, by far.

Hint: The country has the 3rd largest economy of sub-saharan Africa. Only South Africa and Nigeria have a higher GDP.

This shows my ignorance of Africa. I knew that South Africa and Nigeria are the biggest countries (economically) in sub-saharan Africa. I have no idea about the third.

So, because I know was relatively stable until recently.

I will guess: Abidjan, Ivory Coast (or, as they say Cote d'Ivoire).

Second guess: Accra, Ghana (not my first choice, though).

Abidjan is correct. Ivory Coast has indeed the 3rd largest economy of Sub Saharan Africa although it only has 16 million inhabitants.

Abidjan is the commercial capital of Cote d'Ivoire and West Africa's second largest city after Lagos, Nigeria. Built on the shore of a calm lagoon (which is extremely polluted), the modern skyline of The Plateau — the business district — lies across the Charles de Gaulle Bridge.

Urbanized area: 4+ million (by 2015 it will have more than 6 million inhabitants if current population trends continue.)
