Happy City - Charles Montgomery

Almost finished reading this book - and it is absolutely superb. This book covers what sort of urban planning makes people happy, primarily along the lines of new urbanism, and it does it with so many examples, using arguments backed up with diagrams, testimonials and other evidence. I have previously read A Better Place to Live and I actually think this is a great companion piece to that, although it may be harder for north american planners to relate to cities in other parts of the world that are used as many examples. I recommend it to everyone on here, and I also really recommend this book to anyone not entirely convinced of the new urbanist ethos as it gives some examples that might make you change your point of view.
