Home Architects & Interior Decorators

I realize most the folks who hang out here do large scale urban planning (not exactly what I'm looking for) but since the website and the message board look s-o-o-o-o-o professional I decided to register and pop the question.

Can somebody help me locate some web bulletin boards, just like yours, where home architects and interior decorators/designers like to hang out?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are you talking about the motel? Hmmm...I've never been there but once in a while I pass by and see couples stopping for a 4 hour nap and leaving. Only four hours; that's so unhealthy. It messes up your internal clock.

You're welcome to hang out with us :), especially if you want to hone your creative writing skills via haikus, limmeriks and who knows what's next - sonnets, epic poetry?:?

I'm very glad to meet all of you. So, does anybody have any clues about message boards and similar resources where architects and interior decorators like to meet?

I have to do an errant now but I'll be back soon and explain exactly who I am and why I need to find those people.

Thanks

MZ, the AIA has forums at www.e-architect.com - click on "community" once you're there - but I have no idea how many particpate or how useful it might be for your purposes...

The American Society of Interior Designers has a bulletin board. I went there once and never went back (well except to get this link)...

http://www.asid.org/CGI/ultimatebb.cgi

I have no idea how "active" the board is. But maybe if you post there someone can give you an idea about other resources.

Welcome to cyburbia... and good luck with your ventures. :)

Hmmm ...

Most archiitecture discussion online tends to be scholarly in nature -- crit and polemic -- rather than regarding the practice itself. The skyscraper enthusiast boards might not be a good match, either.

I tried looking for interior design boards on the Web, but didn't have much luck Googling for "interior design" and bulletin board names (vBulletin, UBB, Ikonboard, phpbb, etc)

I won't refer you to Usenet, unless you're familiar with newsreader software. Don't want to see your mailbox get filled with spam. There is alt.architecture.int-design, which gets a few legitimate posts every day.

DesignCommunity.com has a rather active architecture bulletin board at http://www.designcommunity.com/discussion.html . It uses the ancient WWWBoard script.

The Archnet boards are at http://archnet.org/forum/ .

The somewhat busy Not So Big House board is at http://notsobighouse.community.everyone.net/community/scripts/directory.pl .

The active Yahoo! DesignResearch group, by the IIDA, is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DesignResearch/ .
