Good one, Card. Reminds me of a true story that happened a few years ago when I was in Platteville, Wisconsin. One of our cops was in a canoe with his girlfriend (Yellowstone Lake, I think, or one of the lakes at Governor Dodge), dangling his foot in the water when he was bitten by a northern pike. He pulled his foot out of the water and the fish came up into the canoe, still firmly attached to his toe. He whacked the fish until it let go, which of course also killed it. The DNR fined him for failing to release a fish that was not within size limits.

Step one, fix them fishies a drink.

Step two, engage in charming conversation.

Step three, go ahead and "accidentially" brush your hand across the fishy erogenous zones.

Step four, invite the cute fishy to your bedroom, the one with the pinkest gills.

Step five, wake up and go home.

What a society - it would be perfectly legal to take the fish, kill it, stuff it, and hang it on the wall, but you give it a bit o' the bubbly and you face criminal charges.

Cardinal.....

So, when it was all over who was thrown in "the tank"?

Was the said Northern "stewed to the gills"?

So, who did the police "net"?

What was their "line"?

Did they "get off the hook"?
_____

Many years ago I was with a friend, about 100 miles north of Sault Ste.Marie, Ontario, fishing in a canoe, for Northerns. We had already killed a couple six-packs and a were not doing well fishing.....can you say "skunked"?

A big dead Northern floated by. We netted it, held it up for a picture, and threw it back in. We left the lake, drove back to SSM, and hit the bars.

Fishing with Bear. Fun.
