How about a battle cry haiku,

Rhode Island invades
Massachusetts first submits
New England is ours

We should have Gary Coleman for governor, not California.

I have to go out now and buy a CD for the future winner. Maybe we can have two winners: one dealing with planning issues, and one dealing with the dynamics and quirks of Cyburbia.

Revenue shortfall
Where can we cut the budget?
Planning Department!

Beginner haiku

Your "big box" has closed,
Now it's an empty building
Mixed-use potential?

"Shotguns and Pickups":
Your market demographic;
No Starbucks for you!

Brewpubs: the in thing
But you need to have good beer
Miller Lite won't do.

The contract's fixed price
You want more public input?
There goes our profit!

A bad start to the week

Driving into work
I discover a flat tire.
I don’t like Mondays.

In last semester's
Urban Design Studio
we built a strip mall.

It might have been a
wetland preserve or nice park,
but land cost 2 mill.

Township wants tax base
Developer needs return
What about the frogs?

16 days 'til school
starts for the little rugrats.
Mommy cannot wait

I will go back too,
and juggle babysitter,
homework and housework.

The nagging question:
When I graduate, will I
even get a job?

Or am I doomed to
a life of chat-room browsing
posting empty dreams?

Cluster proposal
It will cause our property
To lose its value.

Please build us houses
On three- or four-acre lots
Nothing but green lawns!

How many explitives are one syllable? There's a$$ but that doesnt fit. And f*ck would have to have an "ing" ending, but then its two syllables.

I smell a cheater! :)

CDBG Eligible?

Call comes in from group
who wants money for gospel
drag show on Sundays.

Meeting with drag queen
is going along smoothly
until I say no.

He/she calls Council,
says that we discriminate.
They need funds to dance.

Council wants the votes
and tells me to make it so.
No more angry queens.

Depending on your pronunciation, "damned" is one syllable.

Back on topic:

Fifty mile commute
Through farms and farms and more farms
Counting the roadkill.

on job prospects in the field of planning

The job market for
planning-related jobs
does not look so good

Entry level jobs
are hard to come by when you
had no internship

The job market looks dim?
Then maybe you should go for
a Master's degree

Which one is better,
MUP or MUD
or an MPA?

A Master's degree?
What good will one of those do?
I don't see the point

Well, it will let you
collect unemployment in
a higher bracket.

and finally,

My student loans will
be paid off just in time for
my retirement.
