The Town of Shelburne, Vermont seeks two dynamic, experienced land use professionals for its full-service Planning and Zoning Department. Interested applicants are invited to apply, in a manner demonstrating experience and success in creative problem solving, customer-friendly service, adaptability to changing circumstances, and an ability to invent, interpret, and implement concepts and systems in rational, thoughtful ways. The successful candidates will have a rare and unique opportunity to collaborate with the Town Manager and Selectboard on departmental reorganization, which will likely also embrace economic development as part of its new mission, to better meet the needs of residents, business owners, and the development community now and into the future.

Shelburne is a beautiful community with nearly 8000 full time residents on the shores of Lake Champlain, offering easy access to the Burlington, VT metro area as well as the Lake and the Green Mountains. Home to the famed Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farms, Vermont Teddy Bear, Shelburne Vineyard, Fiddlehead Beer, a new public library, and other attractions, the Town is poised to launch new initiatives to strengthen its sense of place and vitality for residents and visitors alike. Shelburne has a wide array of committed volunteers who serve in various ways, whether on formal committees, Fire and Rescue services, or in less visible but no less important ways behind the scenes. A seasonal farmers’ market, local theater productions, Town beach, excellent schools, recognized historic districts, and a strong ‘local food’ presence all add to what makes Shelburne a special place to be.

If you wish to make a difference and seek a rare opportunity to help reinvent planning and zoning as dynamic, outcome driven systems, please direct letters of interest (including references) to Town Manager Lee Krohn, AICP, PO Box 88, Shelburne, VT 05482, or lkrohn@shelburnevt.org.

EOE. Positions open until filled.
