mixed-use development on university campus

Definitely!! In the US, Davies Associates and in Canada, du Toit Allsopp Hillier have employed this approach to college and university campuses. Although it is the cornerstone of du Toit Allsopp Hillier's work (University of British Columbia, Wilfred Laurier University, etc.), a testament to this application is York University in Metro Toronto, spearheaded by Mary Lynn Reimer. A variety of firms contributed to the transformation of typical '70's suburban Modernism into a thriving urban setting (http://www.yorku.ca/main/about.html).

I don't think Davies Associates have a web site but du Toit Allsopp Hillier have the following URL:

http://www.inforamp.net/~dutoit/index.html

York's master planner, Mary Lynn Reimer, can be reached at reimer@yorku.ca
or through the main switchboard, (416) 736-2100.
