I am researching various sign ordinances in order to tighten up restrictions on freestanding and monument signs. I would like some internet links or comments on how communities restrict height, size, materials, architectural elements, and number of signs. Currently we allow 15 foot high "pole" signs and 10 foot high monument signs. This has created a loophole where the crappier signs are allowed to be higher. We are planning on having the height limits the same, but the Plan Commission would like to see how other communities handle freestanding or monument signs.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
