Planners enjoy the opportunity to laugh at others. Bturk gave us a story of a "citizens group pressing for an historical marker at the alleged site of an historical railroad depot. It was discovered that the 'foundations' for the alleged depot were actually a fairly recent pair of shuffleboard courts."
Yup, people are dumb. I've had run-ins with a state DNR that wanted to preserve the 'natural' shoreline of a man-made lake, that objected to placing limestone boulders on the shore beacuase they may change the pH - although they would sit on the same bedrock formation they were mined from, and that has been giving me trouble about filling a portion of wetland that we created in the first place.
Give me time and I can think of more. In the meantime, let's hear yours.
