Our Planning Dept. just created a planning information division that is responsible for providing general land use and zoning information and explanations of relevant processes and procedures. We are also responsible for selling maps/plats and publications, maintaining inventory control and customer accounts. We envision an office operation and layout similar to a bookstore or library.

I am looking for jurisdictions that have done something similar. I welcome suggestions and ideas. Also, we are interested in purchasing a software program to process sales transactions and track inventory and customer accounts.

Go to softseek.com and down load some POINT OF SALE software(POS). It will give you a good starting point. I am sure you can find something that you like.
