Does anyone know the starting salaries for planners in Chicago is? I am mostly interested in jobs that are located in downtown Chicago. Chicago is my hometown and have no intention of leaving so I would like to know how much I can expect to make when I get my masters of Urban Planning in May 2005. Thank you.

chicago and metro chicago planning jobs

Well, a job with the City planning dept. starts at about $32,000, but you shouldn't expect to get a job there, because the City is cutting many jobs and I believe ther is still a hiring freeze.

In the metro area, the beginner positions generally run from $30,000-$45,000

Good luck on the job search next year!
