Here's mine: It was a reply to a thread about Highway 710 in Lost Angeles, posted way back in March of 1999. I used my real name back then - no AVs and Funky Usernames in those days. (although later in the year I occasionally used the name "Idealistic Planners Against Yuppies")

If you were here before the switchover, you may have to go digging a little. Here's a link to the old format which has been preserved by Archive.org.

It will be interesting to see what names everyone went by and how long each one of you has really been here.

BTW, anyone know what happened to Planzilla? He was one of my favorites from the old days.

When I changed over from the old board to vBulletin, I wrote as many people as I could; there was no registration system, so I had to seek out posts where people included their e-mail addresses.

Because there was no registration system on the old boards, people could post using any old username they wanted to. Nobody really sockpuppeted, but it was hard to track posts by one person, because they might use three or four different aliases. Planderella posted using a bunch of different handles, for instance, so it would be hard to track down all her old posts. A few always used their real names, but that practice is becoming less common now in the post-Google era, as folks become more Internet-savvy and increasingly value their privacy.

Planzilla ... the IP traces back to someplace in Denver. To be honest, I really can't remember who Planzilla was. There were a lot of names common on the old boards who either didn't rejoin after vBulletin, or stuck around for a little while and then disappeared.

I've always been Mike....(probably should have used a different name but....)

Anyway, my first posts were back in like 97 when I was still in school. (and looking for a job), and then I re-registered in 99 I think. But...like Dan said, those older posts are lost in the realm of cyberspace.

Back in the old old days, when Cyburbia first appeared, I posted once in a while. I think I used a different name each time I posted - don't ask me why. I was "Canuckplanner", "Damn'd if you do...", and a few others. Don't know if I actually used Tranplanner at all back then.

Good thread Cat....brings back memories of posting while in the basement computer lab at Ball State....

Scanning through the archive I found a couple of my old posts...some familiar names on the replies too... :) I posted under my real name and NHPlanner back then...depended on the thread and if I wanted my name attached to it...

I was mostly a lurker...

I used to lurk on the old boards prior to the move, without ever posting. I used to have much more limited Internet access at my previous jobs.

My first post was back in August of 2001... about AICP/CIP reciprocity back when I was considering moving up here to be with my b.f.. Nobody ever answered my question, but now I know all the answers to how the reciprocity works... so it's all good.
