Let us ring in 2015 with our dear friend Bear's words as we traditionally do. During this 10 year anniversary let us remember the words of the creator of Random:
I think we can take note of how Bear always found Random things to talk about like this gem:Bear said:My fellow Cyburbians:
As we welcome in a new year, we sadly say "goodbye" to an old friend and with the grin that made slackers famous, we welcome a new friend.
The RANDOM THOUGHTS THREAD has been part of our lives for many a post. The thread has given us reason to laugh, made us cry, once in a while encouraged a wink or two. Even though tagged with a RANDOM line, the thread was often not so "random". Cyburbians used it to test the waters on a thought and would, once in a while, create a thread with a central theme first posted on the Random Thread.
The original Random Thread will be quietly laid to rest. The ideas, thoughts, observations, complaints, shouts of joy, exclamations of disgust.....they will still be in the archived files. But we all know that time makes us forget, and there are many things that were shared in the original thread that time will HELP us forget.
As we begin to fill this new (and exciting! ) thread with our "randoms", let's take a moment to thank all of those who contributed to the original thread. But more importantly.....let's roll out the red Cyburbian carpet for "newbies" and others to join us. We look forward to a better world.....jump-started on this 3rd day of January, 2007.....go forth and gather thy randoms.
I hope we can all spend 2015 sharing Random Thoughts with each other. We miss you Bear. Your legacy on Cyburbia will live forever. You are always in our hearts and minds.A quiet Sunday morning in NW Ohio. The only sound is the gentle slamming of olde fingers on black keys as this Bear walks the sidewalks of Cyburbia.....
Recycling Center Random - I probably mentioned this before. Yesterday I took a load of newspapers and knocked-down cardboard boxes to the recycling center bins. Closest bins to me are in Lucas County (I am in Fulton County) at Toledo Express Airport. Just wondering if my rugged Tundra uses more energy points driving to and back from the bins than is saved by the act of recycling. Just wondering.
What the hell is an "energy point"?
Wedding Random - Went to a wedding on Friday night. Who the hell gets married on a Friday? Anybody who wants to save considerable dollars on hall rental.
Catholic Bear Random - My first 6 years of elementary school were spent at Gesu Catholic Grade School. The nuns were very mean, especially Sister Mary Josephia. Those years probably explain a lot about me.
Wow Random - I have been strolling these Cyburbian sidewalks since May 31, 2003. Wow! Sorry about your luck.
Just being nostrillogic......nausealogic......damn, just remembering. Ain't goin' nowhere, my lady.
