I want to get to 8k minimum in the RTDNTOTO which means that I need to be more random, more times per day. I will work on this.
Math & rounding

8000 posts minus current 6600 = 1400 divided by 46 days left in the year = minimum of 31 posts per day.
That includes weekends but not accounting for NYE post-athon.

I'm toying with the idea of removing minimum parking standards entirely. I just don't see a need for minimum parking standards. We won't have any on street parking being a county, so they are logically going to plan for parking spaces they need.
If you do this, make sure to have surfacing, landscaping, and geometric requirements for what parking there will be. Also, prohibit parking on lawns, landscaping, and other surfaces not constructed as parking. If you don't have this, you'll get the inevitable dirt and gravel parking patches. "It's not a parking lot. I can't help it if people want to park there."

And weekends can be slow around here.

Aaaaaand there's a call from the 212 area code. Gee, I wonder what it is ...

I'm thinking about scrapping the 512 phone number I've had for the past 11 years. It's smong the area codes hardest hit with phone spam. I have both RoboKiller and Hiya, and they're not helping much anymore.

Great tips, thanks! We are going to try for heavy architectural and landscaping guidelines for it. I'm hesitant on that, being a very rural county, but that seems to be where everyone wants us to go.

I have been trying to find out what our permitting tech's nickname is for years. Her family is Laotian, and they all have nicknames for one another that they are generally known by rather than their names. She would never tell me hers. Usually their nicknames are given at birth and are usually something kind of insulting (but in a funny way). She said hers today during a phone call! It's like Then, or Thein, or something like that. I don't know how to spell it though so I can't type it in a translator to find out what it means.

Did you start talking about Tiananmen Square and Hong Kong protests and Uighur reeducation?

So, did anyone catch the fight last night for Thursday Night Football. All I have to say is WTH was Myles Garrett thinking?

When I press a number, they hang up now. I only got connected with someone a couple of times.

My wife wants to mess with the Social Security scammers ("Ura Modachod"), but they also hang up right away when she presses a number to connect.]

Meanwhile, there's someone with the same name as me, living in Austin, who apparently owes a lot of money to a lot of people. Unfortunately, I get all the debt collection calls that's meant for him. My cell phone has a 512 area code, and the skip tracers are lazy. I had good luck with the cease-and-desist letter to one of the collection agencies, so I might try it with the others. (My credit score is still good, the report is default-free, and I check Credit Karma every week or so to make sure it stays that way.)

He wasn't. He was reacting and getting caught up in the moment. That being said, it's completely unacceptable. He'll deserve the fine and suspension he's going to get.

Suspended indefinitely without pay. If he plays another snap in the NFL I'd be surprised.

Caught up in the moment? How about completely lost his mind? I look at it this way; if I grab a hard hat from one of our DPW guys and smack him in the head with it I'm definitely getting fired and I'm also probably going to be charged with assault.

Generally I'd agree but Garrett is a talented, valuable, and young enough player that I doubt his career is over. That said, I have a feeling that he'll be cut by the Browns before next Sunday. After their failed Josh Gordon and Johnny Manziel experiments, I don't think there's as much appetite left in Cleveland for these type of antics as there might be on another team.

Of course, Goodell will probably find a way to make a series of increasingly bad suspensions and reinstatements so barring an assault charge from the Cleveland PD, who knows what will happen.

A lady whom I enjoy picking on in the department across the hall is off today. I sent her a message that "I just want to let you know that I had nothing to do with it". I did nothing other than send her the text. She has contacted two of her co-workers to find out what they did. Of course they knew nothing at the time so It has been an entertaining afternoon.

I'm not defending the idiot in any way, shape or form. Ritchie Incognitio still played after he pulled stupid crap. Granted on different teams, but he still played. I agree with you, had it not been in sports, he'd be facing an assault charge and deserve it.

Still working on the report for the Gov's office. Just when you think you're done, you think of another program or event that needs to be added.

But I do have the end in sight!

I am all for regional cooperation, but why is it that funding from the County is tied to a policy that is great for some communities, but bad for a few others including mine?

Not happy with our dog this week. She dug a hole in a couch cushion. It’s a shaped cushion for the chase section of the sectional so it’s not like we can just flip it.

Another morning of providing true facts in the newspaper comments.

Yesterday it was a proposed redevelopment of a cleared site.

commenter claim: "Conveniently located near an LA Insurance, a payday loans place, a Boost Mobile, a plasma donation center, and of course, a vape shop or two."

Recognized Expert Karen: Made me look. Nearby land uses include a veterinarian, grocery store, fast food and fast-casual eateries, auto sales, auto parts, coffee, banks, churches, city parks & rec, district court, fitness, office supplies, SOS branch, a bridal shop, and a donut place.

Today it's a re-use of an existing seminary.

commenter claim: "16 million dollars could buy six 50 unit complexes "

REK: A raw land build is always more costly than a renovation/reuse. Seniors and retirees don't want to live out in the country away from sidewalks, bus lines, and other amenities such as the nearby shopping, library, and post office.
This is an existing multi-family structure "which takes up an entire city block, was originally built in 1919" and "(a)bout 12 acres behind the seminary building and gymnasium would be left open for future development of affordable housing or market rate housing."

I've noticed that these land use articles appear on the main page of the subject media until I post my remarks, whereupon they are relegated deeper within the searches. Coincidence?

Why do women in TV commercials hug with their arms vertical, rather than horizontal? Why do they hold coffee mugs with two hands, and bend their heads back slowly after each sip?

I was helping to chaperone my daughter's Girl Scout troop trip to the DNR "Outdoor Adventure Center" in downtown Detroit yesterday afternoon and while we were walking back inside from a hike to check out some natural habitat areas along the river I ran into a very good friend of mine who was there with his GF and her kids as they were leaving. 4.5 million people in the area and I randomly see a friend of mine downtown on a Sunday afternoon. What are the odds of that?

These type of "small world" things always amaze me, like when we ran into our neighbors at Busch Gardens in Florida last spring or when I was waiting in line for the ATM on a Marine Corps base in Okinawa in 1998 and the guy in front of me was a friend of my sister's!

Back when - I participated in 2 live fire trainings - 1 was interior and 2nd where I was the engineer for the safety line.
I'm assuming I'll be interior on this one. They are trying to get the folks who haven't had the opportunity to do interior work inside on this one. I think there's like 5 of us.

I bought lights to put on the front of my house for Christmas. I might put them up next weekend however the wife has informed me that we are not to turn them on until the day after Thanksgiving.

We had the same SUV stop in front of our driveway twice yesterday around mid-day. Driver and passenger were pointing at our house. It's been 13 months since the hurricane and we're still getting these intrusions. Very unconformable.

Is it obvious from the street that someone lives in the house? I'm assuming you have a security system in addition to the dogs. What if you were very obvious about taking their picture from a window?

My parent's neighborhood was hit with the Dallas tornados in October. Lots of "Chucks in a Truck" looking for work/doing work, but also a lot of unmarked work trucks in the area. Makes residents nervous. And they're out at odd hours, too, because the faster they work, the more work they can get done and get paid for. Some homes just need minor exterior work, some just roofing, several have significant damage, and there are a few completely destroyed. They didn't say anything about looters in this area, but other hit areas did have some on the news.

Mom's been worried about strangers in the neighborhood. They've lived there 15 years, so she knows her neighbors. It's been hard for her to relax. If you're still having these problems a year later, I shudder to think what her neighborhood may be like next holiday season.

That was not a cheap mishap like chewing up a pair of slippers. My mutt would be in the 'doghouse' for weeks following that.

What is it with the dogs right now? I woke up this morning to find ours had chewed the edge of the hall carpet runner, then yaked it back up on the rug.

WTF dog? He hasn't chewed things in years.

My dog just sleeps all day.
Most pets do while we're gone, but it's those limited times when they drag themselves out of their torpor in our absence that cause so much grief. On a related note, one of my favorite types of YouTube videos are those compilations of pet misbehavior caught on video monitors while their owners are gone. They're a close second behind 'guilty dog' videos when confronted with their misdeeds.

Same here. She's a rescue that we got when she was 7. She's 10 now. Very chill. But she does get excited about walks and will get up off the couch for kitchen sniffies and belly rubs.
