I'm doing some research on zoning and zoos (specifically, a reptile zoo).

Has anyone out there dealt with this before? Is it "defined" in your zoning by-law? What zone is it permitted in (e.g. commercial, industrial)? Is it outright banned through a by-law?

Any info/ideas would be great.....

If your community would allow a public zoo, banning private ones would be difficult to justify. In our code, a zoo would be labeled "outdoor recreation" and permitted as a conditional use (public hearing with site plan) in the highway commercial and agricultural distircts.
