I want to... but... I don't think canada post will get anywhere (besides someone else in Canada) before Christmas. And now with the stupid food restrictions into the States, it may not be that easy anyway. Well, except for the special brownies for Chet. ;)

So if people don't mind stuff coming a little late, it would be groovy to play along.

Like nerudite, i'm in, but don't count on getting things any time soon. ;)

Takes at least a week to 10 days, not during the holidays.

Sorry folks, you don't rate expedited.

I'm in!

Could people that are participating post some things they like in the selected price range so we're not sending people stuff they hate? I'd hate to buy something I'd love and have Planderella say................oh hell..................I've said too much..................I have to go..................

Its sounds like fun but I don't think it will be much of a Secret Santa if you recieve a parcel covered in Kangaroo stamps.;)

I'd love to, but maybe next year, when I'm not spending as much on my divorce attorney. ;)

Gee I'd love to, but I doubt I could send things to the US or anywhere easily... Plus it isn't very secret when your package has Chilean stamps and the content is made in Chile (mabye Chilean wine ;))... :p

Well, it won't be *that* secret. You'll know who it is (most likely) when you get something in the mail with a return address. Ah c'mon Skel...it's fun! Plus, I want the chilean wine ;)

Once the price range is set, I suggest that the gifts have some sort of unique or local flavor from the Secret Santa's hometown.......something that the recipient can't get from just anywhere. Santa is only a secret until you receive the gift anyway, right?

Heck! I use so much the regular mail here that I don't know how the Chilean stamps look like :p Right now I bet they're the typical Christmas stamps that are practically the same everywhere...

can we add the rule that the gift has to be sent with cool stamps?

And side note i donno what something thinks I can pick up for them for 10 bucks in DC that is horribly tacky. DC and other metro areas are costly 10 bucks does not go far.

OK so if you are going to do gifts with a local flavor then the wish list thing might not work.
But I think it is a great idea!!! I just wanted to wait and make sure that we weren't going to the $50 range. Don't think my budget will afford that this year.

Donk, TIO, keep an eye on the City of Milwaukee. Due to a change in insurance benefits for retirees and a couple people who have simply moved on, it appears as if the city may lose nearly all of its senior management people at the end of the month. Many of the replacements will come from outside of the organization, and I am sure there will be other slots opening.

The Kangaroo stamps are a myth! In reality, REM's package will probably be covered in Sydney Funnel Web spider, Millennium Train and Paul Hogan stamps.
Not so. Kangaroos regularly appear on stamp issues. One of our most famous stamps (the first issued after Federation) is a Kangaroo stamp.

It was controversial in its day because all stamps pre-Federation included a picture of the monarch (King of the day). The Pommies (sorry Pommies) and sycophants didn't like it apparently.

We had a small problem and one of the mods accidentally deleted a portion of my secret santa post.

http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9792

But that is OK we can still do this thing.

1. It looks like the vast majority have choosen $10.00 as the gift price. That's great. Shows we are a frugal bunch. Stick to the budget.

2. So plan on spending =(($10.00US)+/- 20%) + postage)
Yes, I have been working in MS Excel far too much lately.

3. Answer me, these questions three, in an E M A I L.

Put them in an email to webmaster@joetownwebs.com This email address will die within a week because I fear spambots more than the federal government.

By Monday morning I will email everyone their Secret Santa assignments.

People will not be paired. It will be a "circle of life" sort of thing. That way we get a broader exposure. You have to email me by Saturday Midnight (USA - Central time) to be included in this process.

Post any questions you may have below. Keep this thread on topic please.:-D

Just to be clear... Do you need another e-mail from those who sent you one earlier in the week?

Yes - I need a new one from everyone that wants to participate. This is because for some reason I never got any emails from anyone, except for the one from Dan offering me Herbal Viagra.

BTW - Sorry if this has become a pain in the rumpytuna. ;)

It means welcome back, I kinda missed you, and it is a play on the term 'rump' The smile meant I was not trying to be mean.

It is the posts without smiles that convey evil intent.
