Job listing Senior Planner - Kings Mountain, NC

Not open for further replies.

The City of Kings Mountain is actively recruiting for the Senior Planner Position in the Community Planning/Zoning and Economic Development Department. Prior experience in ARCGIS is required.

The city is completing a department wide strategic plan that will be submitted to City Council by fall. The city has adopted a city wide economic development plan earlier this year and developed with an outside consultant a detailed downtown streetscape plan that will begin implementation this coming fiscal year. The city has funds available in the upcoming budget for an outside planning consultant to work with the Senior Planner and this department to update the comprehensive plan. The city is one of a few in North Carolina that has five utilities: water, sewer, gas, electric, and fiber, so land use plan integration with all five utilities and associated departments will bring greater economic development opportunities most efficiently. The City of Kings Mountain has multiple interchanges (I-85 and four-lane highways) and has planned for controlled growth in all sectors. The city has recently adopted the following year’s budget with a strong emphasis on public safety and economic development. The city has three lakes to consider in future quality of life land plan opportunities, including Moss Lake.

The director’s goal is to assist the Senior Planner as needed and allow this position to take on more tasks as warranted without being drowned in responsibilities in a new position.

The City of Kings Mountain is located 35 miles west of Charlotte and is the closest city next to three parks, Crowders Mountain, Kings Mountain, and Kings Mountain Military Park that draws in over 1,000,000 visitors a year to the natural trails, and has many great new home developments for new residents.

This position will be an exciting opportunity to grow your career with many exciting opportunities underway! Please find a link to the job advertisement here and please contact us with additional questions.
