The Gallery front page is constantly displaying a variety of images that are not built-environment related, due to the increased usage of the temporary gallery for misc. images.

Please....try using a free image hosting service that allows hotlinking, as I've quoted from Dan, below. It makes the Gallery homepage look more appropriate for Cyburbia when planning/built-environment images are displayed there rather than pictures of nazi paraphenalia (sorry to single you out Maister...).

If you want to display images that are larger than the Forum attachment limits (500x500 and 50K), you might want to consider one of these image hosting sites. Registration isn't required, and they're simple to use.

You should use one of these services instead of hotlinking and leeching from other cites; copy the image to your computer, and upload it to the free hosting site.

Be forwarned: they don't have gallery capabilities like the Cyburbia Gallery, and images may be deleted from them after a month or so. For photo series, you should stick to the Cyburbia Gallery.

ImageShack (http://reg.imageshack.us) - Select a file, upload, and get several options for linking, including BBcode and thumbnails. No registration required,.

PaintedOver (http://paintedover.com/) - Works much like ImageShack, and also free; no registration required.

free-image-host.org (http://www.free-image-host.org/) - Simple free host; upload an image and get a hotlinkable URL of the hosted image location. Irritating animated ads on the site. No registration required,.

ImageUpload.org (http://www.imageupload.org) - Point to a file on your hard drive, click "upload," and get a url that can be pasted into a message. No registration required.

TinyPic.com (http://tinypic.com) - Similar to ImageUpload.org, but the generated URL is very short. No registration required,.

FastUploads (http://www.fastuploads.com) - No registration required,.

ImageTown (http://www.imagetown.net/) - No registration required,.

IMGZONE (http://www.imgzone.info) - No registration required,.

NetPix (http://www.netpix.org/) - No registration required.

Upload Engine (http://uploadengine.com/) - No registration required.

SaveFile (http://www.savefile.com/filehosting/) - No registration required,.

xs.to (http://http://xs.to/) - No registration required.

ImageStash (http://www.imagestash.com/) - 30K limit if you don't register.

Photobucket, smilies and linking questions.

Can we use Photobucket?

Also, I have my own Engineering forum. Can I use the smilies from that forum over here?

Thanks.

I know this information is old, but does the 50k limit still apply? Tried posting a couple under 50k and they got rejected..

Also, as for image hosting, it seems that a lot of sites have gotten real annoying in the sense that they require you to create a profile for public viewing a la facebook and instagram. Back in the day (5 years ago) they were private and just stored your pics without all the b.s advertising and social networking tie-ins. They ran a lot smoother as well. Anybody know of a good image hosting site without all the b.s.- something designed just to easily access images for posting in webforums? Thanks.

I really have to fix the gallery, but that's probably going to come with a software upgrade, which should be in a few months. I was meaning to do it last December, but life got in the way. :(
