If you ever find yourself caught in an ambush the best thing you can do to increase chances of survival is to drop and return fire from the direction(s) it's coming from. Only attempt to move or redeploy after one's situation has been ascertained.

Always keep a bottle of bubbly in your fridge as you never know when something good is going to happen so you want to be ready

You are not impervious to criticism - it will never hurt you just to listen to what the other person says.

Don't accept advice or criticism from someone unless they are living a life that you aspire to live.

It is best to know what you want before you set out to get it.

Peeing on an electric fence is not advisable.

Vacuum cleaners and gym memberships don't make good birthday or Christmas gifts for your wife.

Be humble, a lot was accomplished before you were born.

No one ever said on their deathbed: "gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office".

Plan for your future, but don't forget to live today.

It's a lot easier to find a job when you have one.

One thing I've learned over time is that there are two things you can ALWAYS control: your attitude and your effort.

Better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

corollary:
You're much more likely to get in trouble for the things you say than for the things you don't say.

The writer's tone is kind of off-putting, as if he's sharing some great, self-evident truth or imparting wisdom on the ignorant masses and for that I hate him.

But it's not a bad idea.

He is right that, later during the party, no one is going to have any idea how many you've had, but having a drink in your hand toward the end makes it look like you've been having a good time.

Never let them see you sweat.

Keep smiling - it makes them wonder what you're thinking.

Use your warface only when absolutely necessary.

Billy Ray Valentine: You know, you can't just go around and shoot people in the kneecaps with a double-barrelled shotgun because you're pissed at them.

Louis Winthorpe III: Why not?

Billy Ray Valentine: Because it's called assault with a deadly weapon, you get twenty years for that shit.

When cooking you always need more shrimp and more spinach than you think.
And garlic.
Where are you getting this nonsense? Well, okay, maybe there's never enough garlic, but shrimp and spinach?

"Honey, the chocolate parfait was pretty good tonight. But honestly, it coulda used a little more shrimp and spinach, though....."
