We're a principle city of a MSA that will be right on the edge of a combined population of 100,000. IF you take in some of the other rule changes related to density and contiguity of urban areas the urban area would definitely slide down to a micropolitan.

Main concerns are how this would affect federal funding (DOT, HUD/CDBG and the like). Economic Development is concerned that it will be a branding and site selection issue as well. I think most of the concerns are just uncertainty and fear of how these designations will be used by other federal agencies.
