Great job, Mike! One question -- do you think the Canucks (sorry, Canucks) will be offended that your map shows Canada as being smaller than the good ol' USA?

I was going to mention that... Still, it's not like there's a lot of Canadian Cyburbanites to squeeze in there...

Hey, man... I can put you anywhere I want. How would you like to wake up tomorrow and find yourself living in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Terre Haute, Indiana, or even France? ;)

Nope, about 3 hours east and a little bit north of houlton, if there was a straight road from where I live to there.

when I say in teh middle of nothingness I am not kidding. We have a road in our area that is about 80 miles from the last house in one town to the first in the other.

It was attempted once before, but it wasn't kept up. Let's try another mapping project. Sorry, but I don't have a base map including both the US and Canada. Sorry, Canadians. I've tried to include you anyway.

I have the following people's locations: Chet, Dan, EG NHPlanner, Transplanner, Plannergirl, me, Mike D., Planderella, Nerudite, Habanero, Prudence, BKM, Boiker, Pete-Rock, Runner, Xing500, Mike Gurnee, Cowley.11, GeogPlanner, Jresta, Budgie, Lee Nellis, Bucky Alum, Joe Iliff, Jestes.

If you don't want to give away your location publicly, send me a PM. Here's the first map:

Not to be too nitpicky....but I'm too far east on your map.

I (and Mary Poppins) live in Concord:

As promised, here is the updated map. The Upper Midwest is well-represented, as is Missouri-Kansas. The Northeastern US isn't doing too badly, either. There are some interesting omissions - nobody from Minnesota or Washington States, from Atlanta or LA?

NHPlanner - I think I have you more or less in the right spot now. That marker next to you is Mary Poppins. (Don't they look so cute together? I'll leave it to you two to figure out which one is on top.)

I will update the map at the end of the week (going out of town for a few days) so keep the locations coming!

Locations of Cyburbians as of June 23, 2003.

Mod Edit (NHPlanner):Map deleted for bandwidth conservation. See map toward end of the thread.

Nice map. Now a whole new generation of American high school students will think the Chile is the island off the coast of South Carolina. :)

I lived in Caribou, Maine for 5 years. Nice, but not for brass monkeys. Now I'm in Akron, Ohio, 35 miles south of Cleveland. Originally from New Kensington, PA, near Pittsburgh.

Some of our area is not too far off from deliverance.

Newly updated. The upper midwest and northeast seem to have the most active members. I wonder if that reflects the planning environment?

I know we've got someone from Maine, but I forget who.

Earl Finkler (posts in Perry's Cantina) is from somewhere in Alaska.

And I swear we had someone from South Africa post a few times during the last year.

Earl Finkler is in Barrow, AK making him the most northern of all Cyburbanites.

I also remember there being a member (MDPlanner) who posted from Salisbury, MD I believe.

1) move my dot about half a centimetre to the right, and up slightly. I don't want people thinking I'm in Hamilton (sorry Hamiltonians).

Ha ha! You're in Hamilton! Like, go Tiger-Cats, eh?

Seriously, a centimeter would put you in Hudson's Bay, considering the map's scale.

Tiny dot in the hills

Cañon City, CO, home of the Royal Gorge and the most popular whitewater rafting section in the world! (I'm a weekend raft guide).

It's just west of Pueblo and south of Colorado Springs.

cheers!

I rafted the Royal Gorge a few years ago, from Cotopaxi to some point way pasy Cañon City. Train even went by in the gorge. Had a blast.

I grew up on Lake Michigan... and I would like to move back to the area.

I see on the Map, that there is another Berks County PA planner. Who is it?

Dan,

That's awesome! This kooky town is a blast in the summer, IMHO. The only thing past Cañon City is a cement plant and, 30 miles later, Pueblo Reservoir. And Cotopaxi down through the Gorge is a long day anyway. Do you remember which company you ran with?

hee hee - the Argos creamed the Ti-cats Monday night...49-8!

A centimetre north would probably put me back where I used to work, Sudbury Ontario... My wife might like that.

Mike,
to plot me, pick a spot on the east coast of Oz, about a quarter of the way up from the bottom. That will be close enough.
