If APM disbanded, the conference would be cancelled... and I would not have an excuse to visit Joliet... no fun! no fun!

Well it initally seemed like you came in here to Troll, however most people in here make fun of the planning profession themselves, so it appears that your plan backfired. So I say you should stick around even though I voted undecided.

Actually I am a troll, literally. I was forced to grow-up under a bridge near Morton Salt with my father. We are both trolls. After a group that called themselves "Zoning Stormtroopers of Socialist Milwaukee Reform" led by Marvin Pratt kicked my dads home business out of our house his company went belly-up and we were forced to live under a bridge.

Structural cross-members get awfully cold in the winter. At the time I was known as "6th Street Johnny" and would often be seen taking baths in the Menomonee River because by days end I'd be full of white Seagull defecation.

I spent my days on the "deep tunnel" gravel banks self-educating myself reading old magazines and newspapers that I used a blankets. My dad said that I had real smarts and that ultimately lead to my acceptance into the University of Wisconsin. I have since graduated and got a good job. In my spare time I have dedicated myself to the nationwide struggle against planners. So when you say troll that hits real deep jcfortin.

What do you think of those sexy-looking new bridges they put up to replace your crumbling, rusted, eyesore of an old home? You ought to move back in...er...under.

Please stay. We know you're one of us.

Just learn to perform a few more tricks, and post something serious from time to time. There's more to the Cyburbia forums than just the FAC.

You might want to get a new username, though.

Administrator's note: I'm closing the poll. A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of posting a "should I stay or should I go?" poll on a certain bulletin board, and I was told in not so many words to get the hell out. I don't want to see the same thing happen here; Cyburbia is not Survivor, and we don't vote each other off.

Just stay out from under the Hoan Bridge.

...And the Marquette Interchange. Have you looked at the underside of that thing lately?

At least there haven't been any tanker trucks exploding into fireballs as they fall over the sides of the ramps...not for a while anyway.

Yeah...Cyburbia Survivor. C'mon....lets' take turns voting each other off. Those voted off need to stay off Cyburbia for a whole day.

ooh - we can engineer immunity challanges: who can properly design a stormwater detention basin the fastest? who can write up minutes from last nights planning board using spell check the least? who can spot the greatest number of violations at the tire warehouse? yay!

troll

If you had been a troll in Cleveland a few years back you could have built a fire to stay warm....on the Cuyahoga river.

Stay or go?

I feel strongly both ways.

The intern coffee fetching relay sounds fun, but there's probably nothing like the "You Know Where You Can Put That Red Pen Challenge"

I'll take that challenge....anyone up for it ?? You have to use the minimum pipe size, no putting in 60" pipes all over the place.

Very typical of a Planner – having the audacity to make a decision for someone else believing it is in the overall good of the community. How would you know? For a day I thought this site might be cool. And some people posting here appear to be too. Now I think this site totally smells because of the overuse of moderation.

A good moderator has the ability of knowing when not to moderate and does not get caught up in his/her power ego trip. This is the Friday Afternoon Club for goodness sake!

Some Cyburbanites who I think are cool but the lame operation of this site cast a dark shadow over your brilliance (If I forgot someone I'm sorry):

Last I checked the vote was 7 for leaving, 7 for staying, and 7 undecided. I’m breaking the tie and casting my poll vote for leaving.

For now, I’m outta here. The Anti-Planner Movement will be coming to your town soon. See ya.

Don't let the doorknob hit your ass on the way out...

MODERATORS NOTE from bturk: Keep it civil, folks. APM got irrate when Moderators addressed his posts that were not per forum decorum. Don't make me grab my belt and put you over my knee. (That's what PG is for anyway) ;)

APM, Just take a chill pill. You're like a bull in a china shop. Relax, get to know folks here, and like Planderella said, go Introduce Yourself . I find - from personal experience - that acerbic posts are much better accepted once you settle in a bit.

Compared to many other popular bulletin boards, the use of moderation here is rather limited. That's because most users practice good bulletin board etiquette. Visit The Straight Dope, one of the most popular vBulletin-based sites out there, and you'll see some heavy-handed moderation. It's also something the users appreciate, because it keeps the board from descending into chaos, and becoming a free-for-all. Visit alt.planning.urban for an example of what happens without moderation. It's not pretty.

I killed the poll because, based on both personal experience and from that I've seen on other sites, anti-popularity contests tend to get ugly. (Yes, I was considered the M****b equivalent on another site. We should invade it sometime ... [evil laugh]) This thread proved to be no different.

The subject matter of this thread deals with board policies and operation more so than fun off-topic banter, so I'm moving it to Forum Issues and Help. The heavy hand of moderation at work, I guess.

I'm sad, i did not make the cool kids clube, like that has never happened before.

I was finding some of antiplannermovement's post humorous, more so then muggie's.

as for moderator's interference. I think there is just about the right amount, maybe we are all relatively civil/polite people here to one another because of our work expereiences.

I'm for giving a "bobblehead" prize for the most consistent plan approval by a planning commissioner.

It's all about me.

I just found out I'm not cool. Damn, I have always suspected, but it is hard when your peers stage this kind of in your face intervention. My name was glaringly-obviously missing from his cool list. I need comfort food and beer, and maybe some ammo. New ammo, not that old crap. I even voted to keep the bastard. And he treats me like this? I'll be in the shower crying until the hot water runs out if anyone needs me. ;)

I kinda liked the guy. He's a more inappropriate member of Cyburbia than me, and well Brian. But in a different way.
